Another Reason Why Not to Live in New Orleans

An elderly couple in New Orleans is fighting the local government to keep their home.

Why you ask?

Because they didn't pay their property taxes.

Why is this news you ask?

Because the outstanding property tax bill was for $1.63.

What's that? You think that is ridiculous?

So is the fact that the government mailed the bill to the wrong address and the elderly couple never received notice of the deficient bill.

You want to know why the local government won't let them repay the bill?

Well, the local governent already sold their home at an auction.

What's that? You think that is ridiculous?

So is the fact that they sold the home for $126.73.

What's that? You think that is terrible?

So is the fact that the eldery woman lives in a FEMA trailer due to Hurricane Katrina and the elderly man is on a respirator living with relatives.
