Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day

As if everyday isn't Talk Like a Pirate Day...

Here be some words of advice for ye, ya scurvvy dog

Growl - and scowl often. Pirates don't use a cultured, elegant, smooth vocalization - they mutter and growl.

Gesture with your hands frequently. Don't forget that pirates do most of their talking on the deck of a ship - out on the ocean, where wind, waves, and bird calls make it tough to hear. Gesturing often gives you a sense of "being there."

Run words together. Saying, "The boys and I were out for a lovely day on the water today" sounds like something you'd overhear at a yacht club. Instead, try, "Me'n'these here scurvy scallywags drug our sorry keesters out t'th'ship'n'had us a grand great adventuaaarrr! We almost had t'keelhaul Mad Connie f'r gettin inter th' grog behind our backs!" Note that you should always endeavour to call the addressee by some insulting name, usually involving an animal. "Yer a scurvy bilge rat, ya pompous gasbag" or "Here's yer dinner, ya mangy cockroach." (source: wikiHow)

Belgium No Longer for Sale on eBay

eBay has removed the auction for the country of Belgium from its website. The auction opened at one Euro, which I would have gladly paid. Multiple bids were made with the final bid being 10 million Euros, which I would gladly receive as a gift from benevolent blog readers.

But fear not loyal readers! Belgium may be up for auction again! This was not the first time the country has been listed on eBay, and hopefully it was not the last.

All Your Maps Are Belong To U.S.

"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us."

But seriously, 20% of Americans, er, U.S. Americans, are unable to locate the USA on a world map? Can they locate t3h Iraq? I hope so, because that would help South Africa like such as, uh, build up our future, for great justice.
